DARWIN rookie Bryce Fullwood will have an NT V8s trailblazer cheering him on as Darwin’s historic double-header gets underway today.
“I’ve met Bryce a couple of times and definitely will cheer him on,” 2008 V8 Ute champion Layton Crambrook said.
“It’s good that they’re doing the double-header because Darwin is so isolated you miss out on so much stuff; it’s good that they get more than just one taste of it.”
It comes as the new trophy for this weekend’s Darwin Triple Crown was revealed on Friday.
Designed by renowned Larrakia artist Jason Lee, the trophy features boomerangs, to represent the Supercars returning to Darwin, and a shield engraved with a crocodile, the totem of the Larrakia people.
NT Police have urged racegoers going to the Darwin Supercars this weekend to enjoy things sensibly.
Commander Matthew Hollamby said police will be actively conducting patrols at the event.
“Racegoers can expect to see foot and mounted patrols at the event. Police will also be conducting RBTs over the weekend,” he said.
