The foundation engages students across the Territory through education and employment pathway programs and is nationally recognised for its remote football projects.

“The foundation’s work in Indigenous communities is critically important in helping develop key future life skills and behaviours, while keeping a close connection to culture,” Long said.

The program is designed to improve student leadership and engagement in education through a 15-week community based program and one-week leadership camp.

“The popularity of AFL in the Territory provides an ideal way to inspire and engage Indigenous communities,” Totham said.

“(It helps) promote education, health, wellbeing and employment outcomes through the power of football.

“Telstra’s ongoing support will enable the Michael Long Learning and Leadership Centre staff to continue to access remote communities and continue having a positive impact on the lives of even more young Indigenous Territorians.”
