THE 2019-20 NTFL season has produced several extraordinary feats, goals from the boundary line, long runs and big marks.

NT News football writer Grey Morris has put in the big ones to pick his best 25 players from the season that just ended, a task as tough as running down Nightcliff star Liam Holt-Fitz or kicking longer than Southern Districts’s Josiah Farrer.

The creator and finisher in the Waratah midfield where his hard work on the inside is complemented by leg speed and sublime foot and hand skills when given any space on the outside.

NO. 4 - LIAM HOLT-FITZ (NIGHTCLIFF):

It’s been every which way but loose for the Nightcliff small forward where his goal sense and electrifying pace has caught out more an one opponent in a breakout year for last season’s Chaney medallist.

NO. 3 - KAINE RILEY (NIGHTCLIFF):

Nightcliff’s Kaine Riley is a big piece in his side’s machine
Nightcliff’s Kaine Riley is a big piece in his side’s machine

The general in charge of an airtight Tiger defence that allowed less than 1000 points to be scored against them in 18 matches. A superb reader of the play, Riley’s poise and control under pressure makes him a big piece in his side’s machine.

NO. 2 - JOSIAH FARRER (STHN DISTRICTS):

Southern Districts’ Josiah Farrer running through the middle of the ground is a sight to behold. Picture: Glenn Campbell

Nothing excites the Crocodile faithful more than the sight of Farrer running through the middle of the ground with the football in his hands. The provider of several goals for a forward line headed by his brother Will, Farrer can kick a goal from a long way out or in close.

NO. 1 - BRODIE FILO (NIGHTCLIFF):

Finally, our No. 1. Nightcliff’s Brodie Filo is Grey Morris’ choice for the top NTFL player this season. Picture: Glenn Campbell

The one player in the Nightcliff side who can build, create and finish a pathway to goal with a minimum of fuss. Can run away from opponents with his strength and evasive skills and kick the football over any distance with deadly accuracy.
