THE 2019-20 NTFL season has produced several extraordinary feats, goals from the boundary line, long runs and big marks.

NT News football writer Grey Morris has put in the big ones to pick his best 25 players from the season that just ended, a task as tough as running down Tiwi star Harley Puruntatameri or kicking longer than Palmerston’s Kyle Emery.

NO. 10 - BEAU O’CONNELL (WANDERERS):

A prolific ballgetter who usually does something with the footy, O’Connell has become a permanent piece of the Premier League side’s makeup. Has plenty of leg speed and an uncanny ability to read the play.

NO. 9 - DANIEL BOWLES (NIGHTCLIFF):

The Tigers’ Rock of Gibraltar across the half back line where his intercept marking and superb left foot kicking to position have been standouts in a side full of class.

NO. 8 - SHAUN EDWARDS (ST MARY’S):

Very good at winning the contested ball and an even better disposer of the red or yellow ball with his outstanding kicking skills.

NO. 7 - JARROD STOKES (DARWIN BUFFALOES):

The Buffaloes captain is possessed with all the skills, including plenty of leg speed, excellent disposal skills with hand and foot and superb finishing in front of goals.

Has there ever been a name in Australian football that suits a player of Puruntatameri’s ability? Has explosive pace and all-round skills in a side renowned for those assets.

A creative defender who nudged his cousin Jake and key backman Tom Davies out of a spot in the top 25. Can play on the inside and the outside which adds to his versatility.
