PINT got its second Gwynne medallist on Sunday night when first-choice ruck Jasmyn Hewett won the Women’s Premier League best-and-fairest award by nine votes.
Hewett polled 37 votes throughout the 16-game home-and-away season, beating Nightcliff midfielder Eliza Morrison on 28, Buffettes midfielder Dominique Carbone (19) and Buffettes ruck Molly Althouse (15) to secure the medal.
Last season’s winner, Waratah’s playing coach Lisa Roberts, made up the top five with 14 votes.

Challenged by Morrison at the halfway mark when the Tigers’ joint captain moved to within three votes after 10 rounds, Hewett polled 16 votes in the run home to win the medal.
Her final tally of 37 votes equalled Waratah utility Lisa Roberts’ winning total in the 2019-20 count, putting the seal on a dominant season for PINT’s No.16 jumper.
“It’s been a whirlwind season and a whirlwind five years in the Northern Territory, not having kicked a football,” Hewett said.
“The most important thing, our job (against Buffettes in the grand final this Saturday) is not yet done, and we’re out to prove that.”
Hewett’s win added to Sam Barnett’s win in the 2016-17 count, when Hewett finished runner-up in a St Mary’s jumper.
A key player in Saturday’s grand final when the Queenants aim for their first WPL flag against perennial finalists the Buffettes, Hewett played all 16 games in the 2020-21 season. The former AFLW Adelaide Crow and Gold Coast Sun was an outstanding distributor of the ball at centre bounces and around the ground, often grabbing the ball at ruck contests and running out of the centre to set up scoring opportunities for her forwards.
