ALICE Springs has not been forgotten by the AFL with recent fixture lists confirming the Round 14 tie between Melbourne and St Kilda will take place at the TIO Traegar Oval on August 29.
The game will be part of the AFL’s football bonanza that will see 33 AFL games played in 20 days.
It is the seventh consecutive year that the Demons have played in the Red Centre while the Saints have not visited the NT since 1990.

It is the third AFL match announced to take place in the Territory in the coming weeks with Darwin hosting the Gold Coast SUNS match against Carlton (August 21) and Essendon’s Dreamtime matchup against Richmond (August 22).
AFLNT CEO Stuart Totham was grateful to the Northern Territory Government and the AFL for ensuring an AFL game would take place in Central Australia.
“Over the past seven years the Melbourne Football Club has built up a strong relationship with the community of Central Australia,” Totham said.
“They have embraced the people and culture of Alice Springs and have provided many a spectacle along the way, winning over adoring fans and having a direct impact on young people’s lives.
“We also welcome the St Kilda Football Club back to the NT; an exciting young team on the road to success.
