DARWIN Buffettes coach Chris Atkinson has decided to step down following a massive 2020-21 season which saw the side reach the premier league grand final.
The coach and premier league ruckman has played no small role in the development of the young Buffettes side and leaves behind a side primed for another premiership hunt.
The 2020-21 season was a big step up for the side who came second in the regular season before reaching the grand final where they would narrowly lose 7.4 (46) to 5.5 (35) to premiers Pints.

And the side is expected to only grow with stocks full of young talented players such as Molly Althouse, Dom Carbone, Ashanti Bush and Talia Corrie.
Speaking on the Darwin Buffaloes Football Club Facebook page president Shaun Pearce cited Atkinson’s ability to develop players as one his key attributes.
“Chris had a great impact and assisted many juniors to play regular Premier league footy,” Pearce said.
“Chris’s ability to develop players and communicate effectively was a main factor in his success which was identified by NT Thunder.
“Club culture is critical and Chris’s composed demeanour and respect for others ensures the culture was strong.
“He was a calming influence amongst the players and coaching group and was knowledgeable and considered in his approach, always looking for ways to improve.”
