Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took the Super Bowl defeat in his stride — but you can’t say the same about his mum and fiancee.

Patrick Mahomes was all class after his team’s Super Bowl loss but it’s safe to say his mum and fiancee didn’t take the result too well.
The Kansas City quarterback was shut out by Tampa Bay’s defence as Tom Brady and the Buccaneers romped to a 31-9 victory in Florida.
Mahomes — who last year inked the richest contract in sports history by agreeing to a 10-year, $AUD721 million deal — barely fired a shot in the one-sided affair but maintained his perspective after the most painful defeat of his young professional career.

“Thank you #ChiefsKingdom for all the support. Wasn’t the way we wanted it to end, but we will be back!” Mahomes tweeted.
Not everyone in the 25-year-old’s inner sanctum was able to show such grace in defeat, though. His mum Randi tagged Brady’s wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, in a tweet complaining about the officiating, suggesting the referees didn’t understand the holding rule.
“If you have to have the ref on your team is that really winning!!! @giseleofficial,” Randi tweeted.
Randi tweeted multiple times about the refs, including one statement that said: “Looks like the fans were right. The refs are for the other team. Even their fans say it’s so.”
Mahomes’ mum also retweeted a post that read: “If y’all wanted to see the Chiefs vs the refs just say that.”
Randi was upset the NFL “liked” a tweet by Bundchen supporting her husband and the Bucs. “Enough said,” she captioned a screenshot she took as evidence and posted to her Instagram Story.
Mahomes’ fiancee Brittany Matthews was equally upset with the refs, tweeting a few times about what she thought were incorrect calls against the Chiefs.
She also took exception to Super Bowl broadcaster ESPN’s coverage of her lover, particularly in the fourth quarter when the result was all but a foregone conclusion.
A couple of close-up shots weren’t to her liking as ESPN tried to zone in on Mahomes’ reaction.
Cool ESPN, love the support of a major sports platform for one of the best players in the league...

Brandi chimed in too. “Love our chiefs!! Heartbroken to see how @espn @SportsCenter tried making fun of my son,” she tweeted.
“But I know his heart and love for his team and chiefs nation! Thank you chiefs fans … don’t forget these are someone’s sons on TV.”
