Collingwood asks member behind ‘Phil Inn’ Twitter account to stop using Brayden Sier’s image

A Collingwood member has sent the club a defiant message after being told to remove a doctored image of Brayden Sier from their ‘Phil Inn’ Twitter account.

There must be something in the air down at the Holden Centre because Collingwood’s social media team has also embroiled themselves in a stoush.

They sent a message to a member who was using Brayden Sier's image — with curly moustache and glasses added — on his Twitter profile which was cleverly named 'Phil Inn'.

That’s the name Sier famously used last year when he played in a social basketball game while injured and then lied to the club about it.

The Pies midfielder was later fined $5000 and ordered to do community work by the club.

Collingwood's official Twitter account sent this message to 'Phil Inn': "Hi there, it would be appreciated from the club and Sier if you changed your profile picture. A number of comments you have made don't represent the club or his values. Thanks for understanding."

This didn't go down well with Phil Inn asking if they were joking before hitting back suggesting the Magpies weren't his "schoolteacher" and shouldn't talk to him in that manner.

He also added that the club would be very busy if they were chasing people who were using Collingwood players in the profile pics with "hundreds" of accounts using Scott Pendlebury or Jordan De Goey's image.

DOGS TO UNVEIL VIRTUAL CHEER SQUAD ON FRIDAY NIGHT

The Western Bulldogs will unveil their virtual cheer squad behind the goals at Marvel Stadium tonight.

And there are some feel-good stories behind the faces on the cardboard cut-outs including one in honour of the Bulldogs most diehard fan.

Gary Hincks, who lives in Portland, has only missed one Bulldogs game in his life and that was the Round 1 lockout this year.

Hincks first saw the Dogs play as a 30-year-old in 1974 and he's been to every game since, including interstate matches.

Understandably this gets him at the front of the cardboard cut-outs where he is next to Paul Schwedes, a long-time member who sadly passed away last year.

His daughter recently bought a membership when the club announced that members would get the opportunity to register to have their photos on the cut-outs which have been supplied for free by club sponsor Pedigree.

Club saviour Irene Chatfield, of the 1989 Fightback fame, is also there alongwith several of the clubs administration staff who were stood down because of the coronavirus including receptionist Glenice Rhodes who had been at the club for 25 years.

THE WHISPER

Was there an ulterior motive behind a public stance of not attending his club's game last week? We hear a high-profile AFL club boss had already sent invitations out for a shindig at his palatial abode and didn't feel the urge to change despite the league's late decision to allow board members to the games.
