NIGHTCLIFF Tigers will be out for revenge against reigning premiers Tracy Village in their Round 7 match-up of the Darwin Netball Premier League competition tonight.

Nightcliff has not enjoyed much fortune against the Falcons in recent times, losing in the 2019 final and again in Round 2 by five points.

But a win against its foe tonight could see the Tigers climb into second place behind 2020 frontrunners Pints. Nightcliff coach Neil Forsyth said his side was excited to get another chance against the titleholders.

“We’re pretty excited to go out there now that we’ve faced all the other sides,” Forsyth told the NT News.

“We expect them to come out pretty strong against us. They’re a strong side who are keen to have another big season this year.

“To beat them we will just need to continue operating as a team and work together up the court using our ability to attack quickly from turnovers to score points.

“Defence has also been a big aspect of our game this year allowing us to apply pressure on the other side at crucial times.”

Captain and defender Katie Elmer missed the first game of the year between the two sides and will be out to cause problems for Tracy’s offence.

Megan Craufurd and Tammie Barton have also had strong games recently and are in good form.

But Tracy Village will also be looking to hold on to its second spot on the ladder this week.

Lauren Pluker has been a consistent standout on the defensive end, with Karmen Sampson and Gemma Henderson also playing well on the offensive end.

In other Round 7 action, the unbeaten Pints will relish their chance against underdogs Waratahs as they look to secure their spot atop the table.

Waratahs also have plenty to play for after losing to Hoggies by a single point last round leaving the side equal bottom.
