TERRITORIAN Bryce Fullwood will make history next month when he takes to Darwin’s Hidden Valley as the first NT native to race at Supercars level on his home track.

The young Walkinshaw Andretti United driver topped the 2019 Dunlop Super2 Series and is already making strong strides at the top level, earning a top-10 finish in Sydney on June 28. He will be looking to carry that form to the Darwin track on August 8-9 where he hopes the home crowd will rally behind him.

“I’m looking forward to it a lot. I’ve raced five years but never in Darwin as Super2 didn’t head that way,” Fullwood told the NT News.

“I’ve done some local events but never Supercars so it will be exciting and pretty special as I will be the first Territorian to do so. Darwin is a great track that brings everyone close together with lots of bumping and grinding which is what the spectators want.

“Everyone has driven there but not me so I hope the Territorians get behind me and that natural Territorian will shines through when I get racing.”

Fullwood had a delayed start to his debut season due to the COVID-19 crisis but since taking to the track has already proved he belongs at the top level.

As a rookie he is racing against many of his idols, including Jamie Whincup.

But he has already made it known that they won’t get away with pushing him around.

“This is what I have dedicated my life towards since I was 10 and I still pinch myself sometimes that I’m here,” Fullwood said.

“It was absolutely incredible to get that top-10 racing against my idols in their backyard. It was one of my goals for the season and I achieved that early on.

“Jamie Whincup is a particular idol of mine for his determination and the amount of work that he puts in. He’s a hardcore racer who gives it his all.

“But I can’t let them push me around and I show them that in my racing.”
