A Top End student’s consistent study habits throughout high school has helped land her the highest possible ATAR and the top NTCET student of the year.
Darwin High School graduate Alishba Saeed received an ATAR of 99.95 and a university aggregate of 89.6.
Ms Saeed studied mathematical methods, specialist mathematics, chemistry, physics, and English literary studies.
Ms Saeed said the key to her academic success was staying calm and organised.
“Try to develop a strong study routine, balance your social life, exercise, sleep as well, and I think with this you’ll definitely get through the year successfully,” she said.
Ms Saeed said moments of stress and anxiety were inevitable in year 12.
“I think everyone would experience that, but I think perseverance is very important to get through those moments,” she said.
“I think, in the end, it paid off.”
Ms Saeed said she had a number of “offers on the table” for medicineand aeronautical engineering.
“Right now, I’m really interested about the technological advancements that are currently in medicine – for example, the use of artificial intelligence and robotics to improve the accuracy of surgeries,” she said.
“Hopefully, I can contribute to that development.”
Ms Saeed said the highlight of her year 12 studies was collaborating with her peers who formed part of her support network.
“Sharing lunch time and other activities with them and hearing about their journey and experiences, but also discussing my learning content,” she said.
“My teachers, they really gave me some insightful advice, I’m really happy and grateful.”
