NT Health has landed itself in hot soup after they misidentified a laksa in otherwise genius COVID-19 health messaging.
The poster, designed to prompt Territorians to get tested if they develop COVID-19 symptoms like loss of smell and taste, used the slogan “Can’t taste your laksa? Get tested!”.
The only problem? Someone at NT Health used a photo of a bowl of tom yum, a type of hot and sour Thai soup, instead of a laksa.

It’s the equivalent of calling a Canadian an American, or accusing a Queenslander of supporting the Blues in the State of Origin.
It’s like calling a crocodile an alligator.
It’s un-Territorian.
For a city that loves its laksa so much that it holds an “international” laksa festival each year, misidentifying the unofficial dish of the Territory is an insult and a crime.
Can't taste your Laksa? Probably means you got it at Mary's instead of Yati's.

For a government so obsessed with laksa that it funds an entire laksa FESTIVAL every year... youâd think theyâd have at least one snap of a laksa on file? #oops https://t.co/F1zJXeSMaL

For the record, here are multiple photos of laksa to prove the point.
