They did their best to take a back seat but Prince Harry and Meghan made a joyful cameo at the start of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.

The Californian couple watched Trooping The Colour from a room with a view of the parade ground after arriving in a car with blackened out windows.

The only glimpse that was caught of them was when Meghan was seen with some of the Queen’s great grandchildren.

The Duchess of Sussex was beaming as she chatted and laughed with the children of Zara Tindall, the Queen’s granddaughter.

Meghan was also seen putting her finger to her mouth, as if to ask the children to keep quiet in charming photographs.

Prince Harry, 37, was spotted chatting with Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, who had earlier stood by the Queen’s side on the Buckingham Palace balcony during part of the parade.

The Duke of Sussex looked relaxed and at home as he visited the UK for the first time with Meghan since they quite royal duties.

There has been some concerns that Prince Harry and Meghan, 40, would bring a Netflix crew along with them to the major event.

But it ran smoothly, with Meghan dressed in navy and a wide-brimmed hat with navy trim.

Her outfit echoed the navy Givenchy dress she wore to Trooping The Colour in 2019, before Megxit.

Huge crowds lined the streets of London in bright sunshine for the start of four days of public events to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s historic Platinum Jubilee, in what could be the last major public event of her long reign.

The 262nd running of the event, which traditionally marks the Monarch’s public birthday celebration, has extra significance in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year.

Prince Harry and Meghan joined the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Cornwall to watch the parade from a window at the Major General’s Office, alongside Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall.

The Queen took to the Buckingham Palace balcony with a slimmed down royal family for the traditional photograph.

Prince Andrew had been banned from the balcony and was not given a prominent place at the event.

A total of 1450 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians took place in the Trooping the Colour parade.

Thousands of royal fans lined London’s streets to watch the dazzling parade, which began at Buckingham Palace and proceed down through the Mall to Horse Guards Parade.

Prince Charles, Prince William and Princess Anne joined the massive march on horseback, the first time the full Trooping the Colour parade had been held since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

QUEEN SENT CAR TO PICK UP HARRY AND HIS FAMILY

Earlier, the Queen sent a car to pick up Prince Harry, Meghan and their children for an emotional reunion.

Her Majesty was determined that the prodigal Prince be welcomed back into the fold, sending a bulletproof Range Rover to fetch him from Farnborough Airport, England.

The private airport is 30 minutes drive from Windsor Castle where the Queen was set to kick off four days of celebrations to mark her 70 years on the throne.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex brought Archie back for the first time since Megxit, while Lilibet – named after the Queen – was not born when they departed for California.

In a sign that the Queen was determined to make the Platinum Jubilee a success, she sent three of her own protection staff to pick up the Sussex family.

“The Queen believed it was the right thing to do,” an insider said.

Prince Harry has filed legal action after his right to police protection officers was withdrawn when he quit official duties.

But a compromise was reached this week, with the Californian couple and their children to be part of the Queen’s security bubble.
