Vanessa Amorosi has offered her estranged mother 90 days to vacate her Narre Warren home before she sells it after the pop star emerged victorious in a bitter property dispute.
Ms Amorosi, 43, last month won a years-long legal battle against Joyleen Robinson after Supreme Court Justice Steven Moore granted her sole ownership of the semirural property in Melbourne’s southeast.
On Wednesday, the Melbourne-born singer’s lawyer, Joel Fetter, told the court his client had proposed a stay on court orders and offered to “sweeten the deal” by allowing her mother 90 days instead of two weeks before she would have to vacate the home so it could be sold.
Mr Fetter said that would allow time for Ms Robinson — who has lived on the property for more than 20 years — to become accustomed with Melbourne’s rental market and find somewhere else to live.
The offer came after lawyers for Ms Amorosi and Ms Robinson failed to reach an agreement about the terms of the judgement.
Justice Moore ordered Ms Amorosi to pay her mother more than $850,000 in restitution, which Mr Fetter said would happen after the sale of the property.
He added real estate agents needed to have access to the home, which could be worth more than $2m, so it could be prepared for sale.
Justice Moore said he would take time to consider the issues before he made any orders.
The mother-daughter dispute played out in an emotionally charged trial last year centering on the property Ms Amorosi jointly purchased with her mother for $650,000 in 2001.
The title was split between the pair, while another home in California was owned by a trust directed by Ms Amorosi’s stepfather, but she claimed both were purchased with her music earnings.
Ms Amorosi sued her mother seeking full ownership or a court order that the Narre Warren home be sold.
But her mother countersued, claiming an agreement was made shortly before the property was purchased in which her daughter agreed to relinquish her half ownership if Ms Robinson paid the purchase price.
Ms Robinson claimed she fulfilled her end of the bargain when she paid her daughter $710,000 for a loan on her American home after selling her own property in 2014.
But Justice Moore found the agreement did not exist.
He granted sole ownership to Ms Amorosi but ordered her to repay her mother the purchase price of $650,000 plus $219,486 in interest.
It comes as Ms Robinson told the Herald Sun she hoped she would reunite with her daughter and have the chance to meet her grandson despite the legal feud.
Neither Ms Amorosi or Ms Robinson were in court on Wednesday.
