The estranged mother of Australian pop star Vanessa Amorosi has broken her silence after losing a bitter property dispute against her famous daughter.

The Melbourne-born singer launched legal action against Joyleen Robinson, seeking sole ownership of two properties – one in Narre Warren and the other in California.

On Thursday, Supreme Court Justice Steven Moore ruled in Ms Amorosi’s favour, finding Ms Robinson’s claim for sole ownership of the Boundary Rd property failed.

Ms Robinson exclusively told the Herald Sun it was “a shock to the system” that her claim was unsuccessful.

“I’m a bit shocked, we’ve got all the evidence, but we lost,” she said.

“I just think there were too many people in my daughter’s ears, you know, sort of telling her rubbish.”

It was not a complete win for Ms Amorosi, with the judge ordering her to pay her mum more than $850,000 in restitution.

Ms Robinson said she hadn’t spoken to her daughter in more than a decade.

“If we had been able to talk we could’ve sorted this out, much quicker and easier without all this other court stuff,” she said.

“When she lived in Australia she was my right arm.

“We did a lot of stuff together, we talked on the phone for hours and hours, it just all went haywire when she went to America and married an American.”

Ms Robinson claimed her daughter became “a bit corrupted” when she moved overseas.

“She never really worried about money or anything when she lived in Australia,” she said.

“It was like she maybe got a bit corrupted in America, I’m not saying that’s true, but I am saying that is how I feel … I feel I lost her to America.”

During the hearing, Justice Moore said Ms Robinson was an unreliable witness in her evidence.

He granted sole ownership of the property to Ms Amorosi – meaning Ms Robinson faces eviction – but ordered her to repay her mum the purchase price of $650,000 plus $219,486 interest.

The property is now worth just over $2m, local real estate agents say.

Heated email exchanges included in Justice Moore’s ruling showed Ms Amorosi and her mum arguing over finances as their relationship deteriorated.

“This is bullsh*t, and you know it. Where’s the paperwork,” the singer wrote to Ms Robinson in 2015.

“I’m not playing these games.”

In another exchange with her stepfather, Peter Robinson, Ms Amorosi said it felt like she was “stealing my own money from you”.

Despite the years-long legal feud, Ms Robinson said she still loved her daughter.

“I love my daughter and I’m not going to ever do anything to defame her,” she said.

“I miss her and I’m sorry that all this has happened and to me, my relationship with my children is more important than winning Tattslotto.

“My kids are the most important thing in my life and I’m very sorry that all this has happened.”

Ms Robinson said she needed time to speak to her lawyers before deciding whether she would appeal the judgement.
