A new $4m early learning centre, planned for a private college in Adelaide’s north, will be the first of multiple centres coming to South Australian Catholic schools under an agreement with a developer.
The centre at Xavier College in Two Wells, the first of two to be built in the next 18 months, will cater for 141 children from six-weeks-old until the age of 5.
This project and others in the future, will be built by developer Accord in partnership with Catholic Education.
Childcare provider Eden Academy will operate the centre, known as Eden Grove, which includes both indoor and outdoor learning spaces.
The second early learning centre will be at Xavier College Riverlea Park, due to open in 2027.
Catholic Education SA executive director Neil McGoran said the expansion of its early learning centres “will meet increasing demand”.
“The early years play a vital role in every child’s development and we believe that together we can provide exceptional early learning centres for the growing needs of South Australians,” Dr McGoran said.
Planning to open further early learning centres for 3 and four-year-olds is “progressing”.
Construction of the early learning centre at Two Wells is set to start next month, to open in term 3 of 2026.
Accord managing director Lachy Hogarth said the “significant initiative” would set the foundation for life long education.
“We are committed to delivering exceptional facilities that foster growth and development,” Mr Hogarth said.
“These centres will be designed to provide an engaging and nurturing space for young learners.”
