Two truck drivers escape serious injury, drink drivers busted in northern suburbs

Two truck drivers have made a lucky escape after a crash on a rural SA road, while two men will face court on separate drink driving charges.

Two truck drivers have escaped serious injury after a crash in rural SA overnight.

Just before 2.30am Tuesday, emergency services responded to reports that two trucks had collided on the Dukes Hwy, about 3km east of Coonalpyn.

The male driver of one of the trucks was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital with non-life threatening in injuries.

The other driver was not injured.

Emergency services remained at the crash scene removing debris from the highway, with motorists advised to slow down and take caution.

The trucks were expected to be towed from the scene on Tuesday.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage was asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800333000 or online at Crimestoppers.

Elsewhere, two men will face court after being busted in separate drink driving incidents.

Police allege just before 10pm Monday, patrols observed a silver Peugeot sedan driving erratically on Commercial Rd at Salisbury.

Police stopped the vehicle before the driver, a 60-year-old man, allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of .259 – more than five times the legal limit.

He was reported for drink driving and hit with an immediate 12-month loss of licence.

His vehicle was impounded for 28 days and he was summonsed to face court at a later date.

In a separate incident, a 26-year-old Parafield Gardens man was arrested after allegedly fleeing police and crashing into a traffic light.

About 1.20am Tuesday, police tried to stop a red hatch back on Elder Smith Rd at Mawson Lakes before the driver failed to stop and drove away.

Police said they did not pursue the car, which was found by another patrol crashed into a traffic light at the Elder Smith Rd and Salisbury Hwy intersection.

The driver, who allegedly resisted arrest, was not injured in the crash.

He later returned a blood alcohol reading of .106 before being charged with driving unregistered, drink driving, resisting police, failing to stop, driving without due care, driving unlicensed and driving in a dangerous manner.

He did not apply for bail and was expected to face the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
