Police have arrested a woman and are expected to charge her with murder after the death of a man at Taperoo on Sunday morning.
Just after 1pm, police confirmed they had arrested the woman who had called emergency services to Medina St in Taperoo at about 8.40am Sunday.
Police said the 58-year-old woman, who is known to the man, was located at the home and placed under arrest.
She is expected to be charged with murder, be refused bail and appear at the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
Western Districts Detective Inspector Christie Matthews said emergency services were called to Medina St to discover the 60-year-old man deceased.
“Major Crime and Western Districts are currently investigating the matter,” she said.
“There’s not thought to be anyone else involved in this matter. We’re still investigating the circumstances of the relationship.
“We understand the female at the home contacted emergency services.”
No other people are being sought over the incident, but police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Police are yet to confirm the cause of death but have not ruled out the use of weapons.
When asked if the incident could be domestic violence-related, she would only say it was still under investigation.
Access to the street is restricted while the investigation is under way and the public is urged to avoid the area.
Kyla Vermeulen, who has lived on the street for 14 years, said it was “mostly older people and families” in the area.
She said she had heard a “bang that was like a rattle on a fence” the night before.
“I’m pretty shocked ... It’s quite sad,” she said of hearing a neighbour had died.
“I’ve been here 14 years and it’s been like a peaceful street.
“It’s usually pretty quiet here,” she said.
