A Strathalbyn man will face court after he allegedly drove his car at a group of teenagers on a footpath, leaving one 15-year-old with several broken bones.
Police allege about 8.30am Saturday the 52-year-old man mounted a kerb in his Holden SUV off Bosisto Lane, Strathalbyn, and drove down a walkway towards a group of teenagers, 9News has reported.
Most of the teenagers got out of the way but the 15-year-old boy was hit and is in the Women’s and Children’s Hospital with a broken leg, a bone fragment dislodged in his foot and a cast on his wrist.
The incident reportedly happened after one of the boys drew in the dust on the man’s car.
Emergency services were called to Bosisto Lane just before 8.30am Saturday after reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.
Police found the Holden SUV suspected of being involved nearby and arrested the driver.
The 52-year-old Strathalbyn driver was charged with aggravated assault cause harm and driving in a manner dangerous.
He was bailed to face the Mount Barker Magistrates Court in January.
It comes after a pedestrian died being hit by a train at Black Forest near Emerson Railway Station on Friday.
Police were not treating the death as suspicious.
