A popular South Australian ready-made meal business is closing down after almost 30 years.

The owners of EatWell by Kitchenhand, based in Keswick, have announced they’re shutting up shop at the end of the month.

In a post on social media, they said the difficult decision to close the business, which was launched in 1997, was made with a “heavy heart”.

“After almost 30 years of providing nutritious and healthy meals to you and our great South Australian community, it is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the closure of our business,” the post said.

“This decision has not been an easy one, and it comes after careful consideration of various factors that have impacted our ability to continue serving you at the level we aspire to, whilst ensuring that our team’s health, family and personal commitments are also maintained.”

Founded by Tina Germanos, and with Leanne Cittadini among the co-owners, EatWell by Kitchenhand served up more than 70 different nutritious, ready-to-eat meals using SA produce.

The award-winning food brand was stocked in almost 100 locations around the state including supermarkets, independent food outlets and green grocers.

“We want to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude for your support and loyalty throughout the years,” their social media post said.

“Your trust in our products has meant the world to us, and we are incredibly thankful for the relationships we have built along the way.”

Over the years, EatWell won several gold, silver and bronze awards at the National Australian Food Awards, and has also been recognised at the SA Premier’s Food and Beverage Industry Awards.

Final meal orders can be made by March 24, with their factory outlet in Keswick trading until 4pm on March 28.
