William Tyrrell’s foster mother has broken her silence over bombshell claims police have evidence to charge her saying she wants the Director of Public Prosecution to “expeditiously determine’ whether she faces criminal proceedings.

A day after it was revealed the NSW Police have handed a brief of evidence to the DPP recommending the foster mother is charged with perverting the course of justice and interfering with a corpse, her lawyer Sharon Ramsden released a statement saying:

“William’s foster mother and her legal team have this morning contacted detectives directly seeking confirmation that a brief of evidence has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for the purpose of consideration of criminal proceedings in respect of William’s disappearance.”

“William’s disappearance has been under investigation for 9 years without charges having been laid to date.”

Ms Ramsden said the foster mother had previously been ruled out of any wrongdoing in relation to his disappearance.

“William’s foster mother and her legal representatives urge the Director of Public Prosecutions to expeditiously determine whether charges are to be laid,” Ms Ramsden said.

“The foster mother and her legal representatives call for disclosure of the evidence which Police suggest forms the basis of any criminal proceedings.

“To date, William’s body has never been found. The foster mother has always, and maintains, she has nothing to do with William’s disappearance.

“She desperately urges the Police to resume the investigation into finding out what happened to William.”

COPS MOVE ON MISSING WILLIAM TYRRELL’S FOSTER MUM

NSW Police have recommended the foster mother of William Tyrrell be charged with interfering with a corpse and perverting the course of justice.

Detectives in the past few weeks have handed the brief of evidence to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who will decide if the woman, who cannot be named, will be charged.

In September 2021, The Daily Telegraph reported a fresh team of investigators had found a new person of interest who had already been questioned by police.

It was later revealed they were focusing on the foster mother of the three-year-old and believed he had fallen from the balcony of his grandmother’s home in Kendall. She has always strenuously denied any involvement or wrongdoing.

On the morning of September 11, 2014 William was with his five-year-old sister and foster parents at their foster grandmother’s home in Kendall on the NSW north coast when he was reported missing.

That morning the three-year-old was playing on the front lawn of the home, with William dressed in his favourite Spider-Man outfit.

It would become an iconic image of the little boy and his disappearance, which has been investigated for nearly nine years.

At the time his sister was unable to give police any information which helped them locate him or establish what had happened to him. His body has never been found.

The police recommendation comes just one day after William should have been celebrating his 12th birthday and is the latest twist in the country’s highest-profile missing persons.

Police who first treated the disappearance as an abduction have since told a court that the foster mum was the sole person of interest and they believed she used her mother’s car to bury his body after he accidentally fell from a second-floor balcony.

The grandmother has since died.

In almost nine years since William went missing, no one has been charged over his disappearance and there has been no evidence made public that implicates William’s foster mother.

No evidence of William has been found.

The foster mother has pleaded not guilty to two counts of common assault of another child and last year failed to have the charges dealt with on mental health grounds.

She has also denied two counts of stalking and intimidation.

On Monday, NSW Police wrote in a statement on William’s birthday — June 26 — that the “determination of strike force detectives has never wavered as they continue to meticulously explore and exhaust every line of inquiry”.

“As another of William Tyrrell’s birthdays comes and goes — on what should be a happy occasion — the NSW Police Force continues to actively and vigorously search for answers into his disappearance,” the statement said.
