A southern suburbs drug dealer whose house became a one-stop-shop for illicit substances fell foul of a massive police investigation into three suspected murder, a court has heard.

Jeremy Pope has pleaded guilty to multiple drug trafficking charges, as well as money laundering, after the raid of his Seacombe Gardens home in 2021 and 2022.

Documents released by the District Court show listening devices had been installed in the home of a different southern suburbs man for more than a month in July and August, 2021.

Detectives were monitoring Pope as part of Task Force Southern, a large-scale police operation investigating the suspected murders of Jeff Mundy, Robert Atkins and Trevor King, who were linked to the southern suburbs drug trade.

There is no allegation that Pope was involved in the deaths of any of the men.

During sentencing submissions, Georgie Grosset, prosecuting, said information from listening devices in the other man’s home showed Pope was selling ounces of methamphetamine to customers, including one charged with the murder of Mr Atkins.

“They regularly discussed sourcing methamphetamine, pricing and sale,” she said.

Pope was first arrested on August 26, 2021 when his house was raided by police.

Officers located cash and drugs strewn throughout the house.

In total officers located 2.6kg of cannabis, 51g of methamphetamine and 102 MDMA tablets.

He was released on bail but again came under police scrutiny on January 29, 2022 when police again raided his home.

They again found drugs strewn throughout the house including thousands in cash and LSD, cocaine, methamphetamine and cannabis.

A week later police returned to the house and unearthed a PVC pipe concealed under a paver in the backyard.

Inside the pipe was a red hessian bag containing $34,900 cash, 182 MDMA tablets, and a further $2740 held by rubber bands.

During the later raids police found in total 692g of methamphetamine, 241 MDMA tablets, 89 LSD tickets and $46,610 cash.

Pope has remained in custody since his arrest in January 2022.

He pleaded guilty to multiple charges stemming from the raids as well as another charge of trafficking a large commercial quantity of cannabis.

Court documents show Pope supplied 6.7kg of cannabis to two other men who were planning to drive the drugs to the Northern Territory and sell it for a profit.

On August 18, 2021, surveillance of another southern suburbs house showed Pope arriving and pulling two large bags from the boot of his car.

He handed them over to another man and asked whether the transaction was going to be an “continuous thing” to which the other man replied “yeah”.

Three days later a Mercedes van was stopped on Main North Rd. Under a bed in the rear of the van was 6.7kg of cannabis and nearly $7000 in cash.

Pope will appear in court again next month for further submissions.
