Cardijn College has announced an $11m upgrade of its campus at Aldinga, less than a year after it announced another major development for its senior site.
The new building, revealed exclusively to The Advertiser on Wednesday, will include six new classrooms for its Galilee campus, which caters for students in reception to year 9.
It is part of Stage 1A of the Catholic school’s five-to-ten-year master plan, which aims to cater for increased enrolment demand in Adelaide’s south.
Cardijn leadership is planning for student enrolments at the Galilee site to double to about 1000 students in the next five to 10 years.
The school has more than 2100 students across its three campuses from reception to year 12 at Aldinga, Noarlunga Downs and Christie Downs.
The development, set to start construction in 2025, will be integrated with the greenery surrounding the campus and include two new covered outdoor courts.
Cardijn College principal Steve Byrne said the development was “about more than just new buildings”.
“We are creating an environment that supports healthy minds and bodies, fosters creativity and reflects our deep respect for nature and community,” Mr Byrne said.
“We’re designing spaces that encourage investigation, connection and joy in learning.”
The plans are pending council and statutory approvals.
The announcement of the new development comes after Cardijn College revealed plans for a new senior learning hub for its Marian campus at Noarlunga Downs in September.
Also part of Stage 1A of its development plan, it planned to expand into vacant land to the campus’ west.
The senior learning centre will include classrooms, specialty learning areas – science laboratories, food technology and teacher support areas and student services.
