The man accused of stalking and indecently assaulting a person across the northern suburbs this month has been identified in court.
Benjamin Peter Tobitt sat silently as he appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Thursday morning via video link from the cells.
Counsel for the 41-year-old Evanston man asked magistrate Karim Soetratma to order a home detention bail report to Mr Tobitt’s father’s address.
Mr Tobitt was arrested on Wednesday by the SAPOL Public Protection Branch over alleged stalking crimes.
He has been charged with four counts of stalking and seven counts of indecent assault.
SA Police believe Mr Tobitt’s car was used in the commission of the alleged offences.
That vehicle has since been seized by police.
Mr Soetratma agreed to order the home detention bail report, with a decision on his release scheduled to be handed down next week.
Mr Tobitt will remain in custody until then.
Detective Acting Chief Inspector Luke Smith said it was a reminder to the public to be aware of their surroundings and trust their instincts.
“If you see any suspicious behaviour or vehicles, report it as soon as possible on the police assistance line on 131 444, or Triple Zero in an emergency,” he said.
