The Advertiser, 7NEWS Adelaide: SA's youth crime crisis, Pope's funeral plans

An Evanston man accused of stalking and indecently assaulting woman across multiple locations in the northern suburbs has been granted bail.

On Thursday, Benjamin Peter Tobitt, 41, appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court via video to continue his application for bail.

It is understood the matter was called on hours before its listed time at the request of Mr Tobitt’s defence counsel.

Court records indicate Mr Tobitt was granted home detention bail, despite prosecutors opposing the application.

The Advertiser has been told Mr Tobitt was released from the Adelaide Remand Centre some time Thursday afternoon.

Mr Tobitt was arrested in April by the SAPOL Public Protection Branch over alleged stalking crimes.

He was charged with four counts of stalking and seven counts of indecent assault.

SA Police believe Mr Tobitt’s car was used in the commission of the alleged offences.

That vehicle has since been seized by police.

The matter will return to court in June.
