An Adelaide bricklayer has confessed to indecently assaulting a child in a suburban fast-food restaurant – and running when the young victim’s parents confronted him.

Marhdu Rosas appeared via video link in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday to enter a plea.

Magistrate Brian Nitschke read out the charges against him and from the screen, Rosas responded, “I plead guilty, Your Honour”.

Prosecutors accepted Rosas’ plea of guilty to one count of aggravated indecent assault, and withdrew the remaining count of gross indecency.

In May 2024, police were called to Hungry Jack’s on Glynburn Rd at Firle following reports a man had indecently assaulted a child under the age of 14.

The man allegedly fled the scene after being confronted by the child’s parents.

The following day, Rosas, 29, of Mile End, was arrested and charged with one aggravated count of indecent assault and one count of gross indecency.

The Adelaide Magistrates Court subsequently heard Rosas was, at the time, on already bail for charges of aggravated recklessly causing harm, disorderly behaviour and criminal trespass.

Outside court, Rosas’ mother previously insisted her son “is innocent”.

Rosas was remanded in custody, and will appear in the District Court to begin the sentencing process in May.
