Marhdu Andrew Rosas charged with indecent assault of child at Hungry Jack’s makes first court appearance
A bricklayer charged with the indecent assault of a child at Hungry Jack’s in Firle at the weekend has fronted court, with his mother saying he’s “innocent”.

A man charged with the indecent assault of a child at an eastern suburbs fast food restaurant was on bail for two separate offences at the time of the alleged incident, a court has heard.
Marhdu Andrew Rosas, 29, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday where he called out to his mother.
“I love you mum,” he said at the beginning of the hearing.
Mr Rosas is charged with one count of aggravated indecent assault and one count of gross indecency. He did not apply for bail and no pleas have been entered. Court documents allege the child is under 12 years of age.
The court heard Mr Rosas, of Mile End, has two other files before the court for aggravated recklessly causing harm and disorderly behaviour as well as criminal trespass.
Mr Rosas also called out during the hearing, telling his mother he was “so sorry”.
Police said they were called to Hungry Jack’s on Glynburn Rd at Firle on Friday following reports a man had indecently assaulted a child.
The man allegedly fled the scene after he was confronted by the child’s parent but was later arrested on Saturday.
An investigation led officers from the Eastern District Child and Family Investigation Section to a Mile End home just after 11pm on Saturday where a 29-year-old man was arrested.
Outside court Mr Rosas’ mother, Melinda Rosas, said her son was innocent and wouldn’t do anything.
“They’ve taken away the last love that I’ve got,” she said. “He’s innocent.”
When asked by members of the media what she was gesturing in court, she said she was telling him to be strong.
“Be strong, he’s a warrior,” she responded. “We come from a strong family … we’re a big family.
“We’ve got kids running around everywhere, there’s no way he would’ve done this.
“He’s never done anything like this, he’s innocent, he’s a beautiful boy, he works hard, he loves family … he’s my baby.”
Ms Rosas, who said her son is a brickworker, said she would visit her son every day before his next court appearance.
When asked by The Advertiser if she knew where her son was on Friday, she said she didn’t.
“No, I don’t know anything about it, but I know that he’s innocent,” she said.
Before Mr Rosas’ hearing, his mother told the media she was shocked when police arrested her son at her house on Saturday evening.
When asked how she knows her son is innocent, she replied: “because I’m his mother, I know him”.
“I’m the one who grew him up, I’m from good stock,” she said. “I’m his mother, of course I know he’s innocent. I don’t want to keep bringing it up, it’s traumatising. It’s a load of s**t.”
She said she wasn’t with her son on Friday.
Mr Rosas will next appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on the indecent assault charges in September.
