Alleged murderer Rylie Lewis Everson-Clare, 20, lived just metres away from a North Adelaide primary school.

Mr Everson-Clare was arrested late on Sunday and charged with the murder of 54-year-old father Aaron Stahlhut, who was found left for dead at Brougham Gardens in North Adelaide early on Sunday morning.

Since his arrest, it has been revealed the former private school-educated alleged offender was a public housing tenant living next door to a primary school.

The block of six properties on Margaret St, North Adelaide, are valued at an estimated $2.8m according to Land Services SA.

Neighbours of the Housing Trust SA homes said the site was a source of constant trouble, frequent conflict and “grotty” mess, but residents were mostly friendly.

The six properties also back on to North Adelaide Primary School.

According to his former next-door neighbour, Emanuele Pentassuglia, 56, Mr Everson-Clare was kicked out of that Stephen Tce property in mid-2023.

Mr Pentassuglia said Mr Everson-Clare had hopes of becoming a builder, describing the young man as “a nice boy when he wants something”.

He said he was surprised Mr Everson-Clare was able to secure much sought after public housing at age 18 when he first moved next door to Mr Pentassuglia in 2022.

“It shocked me to see a kid move in,” he said.

Housing Trust SA and Housing Choices Australia were contacted for comment.
