The 28-year-old driver of a BMW which left the road and rolled in a shocking midnight crash at Gympie on Friday has been revealed as Andrew David Kelly.
Mr Kelly was the sole person in the car and died at the scene of the crash, which happened on Sorensen Rd near its intersection with Serenity Dr at the Southside, about 1am Friday.
Police said Friday initial investigations indicated Mr Kelly was travelling along the Sorensen Rd in the grey BMW when it left the road and rolled, coming to a stop on the driver’s side door.
It was the first of two fatal crashes in the Gympie region on Friday.
In a separate crash in the South Burnett, 48-year-old Ian “Chook” Wilson was killed in a two car crash about 5am on the Bunya Highway at Manyung, near Goomeri.
A man in his 20s was also treated with arm and pelvic injuries and was taken to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition.
