Ian “Chook” Wilson has been revealed as the victim of a shocking head-on crash on the Bunya Highway at Manyung, between Goomeri and Murgon, on Friday morning.
The news of Mr Wilson’s death was revealed by his daughter Jemma in a touching Facebook post on Friday afternoon.
The 48-year-old from Goomeri was killed when the crash happened about 5am between the turn-offs for Heaths and Holznagel roads.
Police said initial investigations showed a LDV dual cab utility and Mr Wilson’s Mazda 121 were travelling in opposite directions when they collided.
Mr Wilson died at the scene.
The driver and sole occupant of the LDV, a 25-year-old man, was treated for arm and pelvic injuries, and was taken to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition.
The crash forced the highway shut for several hours, and investigations are continuing.
Police have urged any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
