A DARWIN CBD hotel will no longer be needed as a Defence-managed quarantine facility once the remaining tranche of foreign military officials complete mandatory quarantine.
But Defence will hold on to another unnamed hotel in Darwin it has been using to quarantine returning Australian personnel.
Defence has been using the Travelodge Resort Darwin on Cavenagh St since January 4 to house hundreds of foreign military officials and their families.

The first tranche of 83 foreign military officials and their families were released between Monday and Tuesday. A Defence spokesman, in a statement, confirmed the Travelodge would not be needed once the remaining cohort’s quarantine period was over, expected to be February 1.

“Separately, Defence manages another hotel in Darwin for the purposes of mandatory quarantine of returning Australian Defence Force personnel, including personnel returning from deployment in the Middle East,” the spokesman’s statement read.
