A quiet suburban bakery has been named as having the Territory’s best finger bun, with new customers flocking to the beloved small business to clean out its goodies.

Last month, Wotif declared the best finger bun in each state and territory, with Parap Bakery announced as selling the Territory’s finest.

Parap Bakery director Ben Thickbroom said the success was due to his team’s hard work behind the scenes.

“The staff put in a lot of effort trying to support our regular customers and trying to support our local community,” he told the NT News.

“We start at 3am and we’ve got a team of about 10 staff working in all different positions doing the cooking, making coffee and baking.

“I’m here 10 or 12 hours a day and the last person finishes close to midnight.”

While Mr Thickbroom said he was pleased to learn his bakery had been recognised for their delicious delicacy, the 22 year-old said the local community’s taste experience was what mattered most.

“We have a few regulars that have been around for 20 or 30 years who have been coming here since they were little,” he said.

“You can’t really beat that feeling when there’s people that have been around this area their entire life and you can make them happy.”

Beyond their finger buns, the bakery has forged a positive reputation for its miniature doughnuts, pies, sausage rolls, sourdoughs and cakes.

Mr Thickbroom said his team had ambitions to add new foods to their menu.

“We’re looking at bringing forward more of the artisan breads,” he said.

“More breads from around the world and having a selection of cakes that can be picked up at any time.”
