DOZENS of fire crews were called to Gunn Point Rd on Friday morning after a blaze near Howard Springs moved east, potentially putting several homes and a mango orchard at risk.
The fire has since been brought under control, however there is still a risk it could reignite.
Gunn Point Rd remains closed, and is expected to be closed for another hour.

Howard Springs resident Wayne Pickering, whose home is right at the edge of the fire line, said he couldn’t get much sleep on Thursday night as he watched the glowing orange blaze creep closer and closer to his property.
“This fire’s been slowly burning west of here all week but it’s just ploughed through here overnight because of these wild winds,” he said.
“I’ve got my hoses and tank ready, I’ll be right here waiting to defend my house if I have to.”
