A MAN is under police investigation in relation to a large fire at Adelaide River, which authorities believe was deliberately lit.
The Strickland Road fire started on Thursday and has threatened properties, with fire crews and water bombers have to work tirelessly to try to bring it under control.
The fire also caused the closure of the Stuart Hwy after jumping the road.

NT Police Incident Controller Superintendent Daniel Shean said the man was speaking with police in relation to the fire.
He said the man being questioned about the Strickland Rd fire was dobbed in by a member of the public who noticed “suspicious behaviour”.
Supt Shean said the man was not a local resident of the Adelaide River area.
“We’ve also got a number (of resources) in Batchelor and Adelaide River areas helping out, in terms of road closures and also detection of people who may be lighting fires, and also ensuring the safety of the public, where fires are approaching,” he said.

“We have had one person who is under investigation at the moment for a fire (Thursday) morning.”
He asked anyone noticing anything suspicious to call police on 131444 or, if its an emergency, triple-0.
He warned those that chose to flout the laws and light a fire during a total fire ban would face a fine or legal action, with prosecution being the preferred action.
