BUSINESSES in Batchelor continue to suffer from a lack of internet, after connection from Telstra first dropped out almost two weeks ago.
While landlines, mobiles and ADSL connection were reportedly running this morning, residents have been unable to maintain a clear connection.
Litchfield Motel owner Mick McElwee said it was having a significant impact on businesses who relied on internet for orders and for customers.

“It’s still not fixed, it’s an absolute nightmare. We’re losing out on bookings, trying to sort out tourism vouchers,” he said.
“We’ll be showing something on the TV and all of a sudden the internet goes and you’ve lost a footy match or the tennis, it just goes. It’s still as bad as ever.”
He said there were a number of other businesses in the area who were struggling.
“The abattoir, he can’t get anything through his internet, Chris from the butterfly farm doesn’t have any connection,” he said.

“We’ve got a petition in the town going now, there’s people that haven’t had a phone for nine days, ten days.”
Customers have not been offered a blanket compensation package but impacted customers wishing to make a claim are encouraged to contact Telstra with details of their situation.
Telstra would deal with any compensation on a case-by-case basis.
It is understood the Rum Jungle Tavern have not yet applied for a compensation claim with Telstra.
