UPDATE: POLICE have arrested a 24-year-old man who escaped from the low risk cottages of the Alice Springs Correctional Facility overnight.
The man was arrested after he attended Alice Springs Police Station this afternoon.
EARLIER: POLICE are searching for a 24-year-old man who escaped from the low risk cottages of the Alice Springs Correctional Facility overnight.
Austin Matthew, 24, and another prisoner, 32, were in correctional custody when they escaped sometime during the early hours of Sunday morning.
The 32-year-old was arrested this afternoon and police continue to search for Matthew.
Matthew is not considered a risk to public safety however police ask if anyone sees him not to approach him and contact police.
Police are conducting several lines of inquiry into Matthew’s whereabouts.
