THE multimillion-dollar, world-class destination resort that will be built next to the Darwin International Airport is one of the most exciting projects to land in Darwin for quite some time.

What sets this Territory project apart from others that have been proposed is that this one will start immediately.

It is not waiting around for a financial investment decision.

Territory cops it again after crazy choice to showcase NT

It is real, and you have to tip your hat to the bold vision of NT Airports chief executive Tony Edmondstone and the Airport Development Group.

The airport has become a showpiece of growth and investment and now this international resort will be a jewel in its crown with the merging of the Mercure Darwin Airport Resort and Novotel Darwin Airport Hotel into one giant site.

There will be significant upgrades to the existing accommodation and facades, and along with the addition of the new lagoon pool there will be a poolside restaurant and extensive new tropical gardens. All this means important jobs for Territorians.

This is private investment putting its money into the Territory. We wish the Darwin International Airport nothing but success. It is leading by example.
