Trevor Edward Roberts denied bail after alleged Ballina stabbing
A 33-year-old man charged with allegedly stabbing a man in the chest in the state’s north has been refused bail.
Police have arrested and charged a man following an alleged brazen daylight stabbing in the state’s north on Tuesday.
Trevor Edward Roberts, 33, faced Magistrate Jennifer Atkinson in the Bail Division Court on Wednesday where bail was refused.
Roberts stands accused of stabbing a 34-year-old man in the chest at The Ridgeway, Cumbalum, near Ballina.
He is facing charges of wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and two counts of hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.
Roberts is also charged with stalking and intimidation along with two counts of assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm.
About 12.45pm on Tuesday police were called to The Ridgeway, Cumbalum, following a concern for welfare.
Police said in a statement upon arrival police located a 34-year-old man suffering a stab wound.
“He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being flown to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition,” police said.
Police told this publication the man was still receiving care at the interstate hospital at time of publication.
At the Cumbalum address officers arrested Roberts who was then taken to Ballina Police Station.
“During the arrest, one officer sustained a hand injury, and another officer sustained a bite wound,” police said in a statement.
“Both officers have attended hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
Police established a crime scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
