A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash commenced.

Mr Gwillim’s family and friends are now remembering the “beloved man”.

Family friend Jamie Lee Martin said Mr Gwillim’s entire family was “in shock”.

“We are still coming to terms with it all,” she said.

“Our hearts are broken and we need to take time to come to terms with our sudden loss.”

Meanwhile, family member Tammy Howe remembered Mr Gwillim as someone who was “adored” by all.

“He brought joy and laughter with him everywhere he went,” she said.

Ms Howe said the family now faced the “heartbreaking task of giving Jason the final goodbye he deserves”.

In a bid to give Mr Gwillim a beautiful send off, Ms Howe kickstarted a GoFundMe to raise funds for his funeral.

“We would like to reach out to our family and friends for help during this difficult time,” she said.

“Any donation will be greatly appreciated and will go towards giving Jason the final goodbye he deserves, and also help financially support his family and children during the unbelievably difficult times ahead.

“We thank our family and friends for their generosity and support during this time of grieving.”

Others online have paid their tributes for Mr Gwillim, remembering his “adventurous” life.

“RIP soldier. Thinking of all your family,” one posted.

“Sending my love, thinking of you, Tam,” another said.
