A major police probe into youth crime in western NSW has seen a young teenage boy charged after he allegedly stole a car.
The alleged theft was one of five cars allegedly stolen in the Inverell, Orange and Blayney regions between February 23 and February 27, according to NSW Police, who allege one of the vehicles was later involved in a fatal crash. .
About 7pm Thursday, officers executed a search warrant in a Dubbo home, where a 13-year-old boy was arrested.
He was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with driving a vehicle taken without the owner’s consent, and two counts of being carried in a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
He is not charged with any offences pertaining to the fatal crash.
The young boy was refused police bail before appearing in the Children’s Court on Friday, where he was remanded in custody.
He will now reappear before the same court on April 28.
