A woman with a link to the Buff Club high-risk exposure site will be moved to Howard Springs and fined for failing to stay at home and isolate.

New South Wales records 24 new cases

A WOMAN with a link to the Buff Club high-risk exposure site will be fined more than $5000 for failing to stay at home and isolate.

NT Police Commissioner Jamie Chalker said the 46-year-old woman in Jabiru, who was being dealt with by the Jabiru clinic, would not follow self-isolation directions.

“Police engaged with her last night. She will be receiving infringement notice and is currently being transferred to the Center for National Resilience as well,” he said.

“If you breach the great privilege of being able to have a self-isolation order, then you will make Center for National Resilience the next step for you.”

She is the fourth person to be fined for Covid-19 noncompliance since lockdown began.

Chief Minister Michael Gunner said thus far, authorities were confident the woman posed no health risk to the Jabiru community.

“There’s not so much concern at the moment, as disappointment in the failure of someone to comply with a stay-at-home order. That’s obviously being addressed now by her being relocated to the Centre for National Resilience,” he said.

“At this stage we have no cause for concern if that changes. if there’s a positive test result we’ll tell people, but right now, I’d suggest it’s more disappointment with the person’s actions.

“We will make our decisions obviously based off positive test results and exposure sites. There’s no reason to believe either of those things are in play in Jabiru. So far the results that have come through from the Buff Club are negative.”
