A teenager has been arrested after he allegedly robbed a woman at a shopping centre before running away.

A TEENAGER has been arrested after he allegedly robbed a woman at an Alice Springs shopping centre before running away on Tuesday afternoon.
It is alleged about 1.30pm the 17-year-old male snatched the bag from a woman in the food court of a shopping centre before fleeing and running down a laneway off Gregory Terrace.
It is further alleged that in his attempt to escape, he physically assaulted a witness who was filming him running from the scene.

The offender fled on foot towards Billy Goat Hill where he discarded the handbag.
The teen was later found in the Railway Yards on Telegraph Terrace, thanks to a combined effort of witnesses, maintaining sight, filming the teen and updating police.
The youth was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated robbery, and was remanded in custody to appear before court.

Northern Territory Police thanked the members of the public who assisted police with efforts to locate and identify the youth.
“A community response such as this goes to show that we can work together to build a safer community,” NT PFES wrote on Facebook.
