THE design consultancy tender has been released today for the long-awaited National Aboriginal Art Gallery to be built in Alice Springs.
The project is one of the biggest investments into Alice Springs in decades and is set to provide more local jobs, economic growth, and social benefits.
According to the comprehensive Business Case for the project, when constructed, the gallery will bring an additional 53,000 visitors to Alice Springs every year, injecting up to $64 million into the local economy and generating up to 245 local jobs.
The design of the National Aboriginal Art Gallery is planned over the coming year, followed by a construction tender to follow soon after.
Minister Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics, Eva Lawler said the gallery would ”become a central gathering place for the community and the design will preserve existing open green space, providing a grand entrance to the Gallery.”

Minister for Central Australia Reconstruction, Chansey Paech, said the project would be a “worrld-class facility that will attract national and international visitors to Alice Springs... prodiving social benefits and opportunities for local jobs and economic growth”.
