OPPOSITION Leader Lia Finocchiaro and Fannie Bay candidate Tracey Hayes have hit out at the Gunner Government for its “lack of transparency” in showing the state of the books to voters.

While unveiling her cabinet executive team on Monday, Mrs Finocchiaro said the Country Liberal Party would work to improve the Territory’s bottom line.

“We are very confident in the capability of our entire Country Liberal team,” she said.

Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro will announce the CLP Cabinet Executive. She will be joined by two members of the new Executive, Tracey Hayes and Gerard Maley.

CLP candidate for Fannie Bay, Tracey Hayes, will, if elected, become Treasurer.

She said the CLP would work to fix the budget and restore confidence within the community and business sector.

“The Country Liberal Party has a plan going forward. In the first term it will be very much about getting the budget back under control,” Ms Hayes said.

“Getting expenditure back under control and moving away from a deficit budget and putting focus on the income side of the equation and a primary focus on increasing productivity right across the board, attracting private sector investment and being seen as a safe place to invest in the Northern Territory.”

“We will have more to say on what our economic reform polices will look like as we go into the election but at this stage I don’t think anything can be ruled out in relation to the economy,” she said.

“We haven’t had any opportunity to have any scrutiny or transparency around the books so it’s very difficult to make a commitment to you here today, we can’t even get a pre-election fiscal outlook.
