Date set for elderly and emergency staff to get COVID vaccine

ELDERLY Territorians and all other emergency workers will begin receiving their coronavirus vaccine from March 22, the Chief Minister has confirmed.
It comes as the NT is due to receive the first shipment of 1440 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine next week.
Chief Minister Michael Gunner confirmed Phase 1b of the Territory’s vaccine rollout program, which will cover Territorians aged 70 and older, First Nations peoples aged 55 and over, and all emergency workers not covered in Phase 1a, will begin on March 22.
GP clinics in Alice Springs, Darwin and the Darwin rural area will begin administering the vaccine on this date.
There are no Commonwealth eligible GP clinic vaccine providers in Katherine, Tennant Creek and Nhulunbuy, so NT Health will set up temporary vaccination clinics.

After March 22, teams from Aboriginal controlled community health organisations will make their way into communities to deliver the vaccine and will remain there until the rollout is complete, Mr Gunner said.
