The plane from Sydney touched down at 11.20am carrying 94 passenger oblivious to the precious cargo that was on board with them.

Frontline Emergency service personal will be the first to receive the vaccine from today.

Chief Minister Michael Gunner said that by the end of the week about 700 of the most at risk and most important frontline workers would receive their first of two doses of the COVID-19 Pfozer vaccine.

“The first vaccine doses for Alice Springs will be given to frontline workers on Wednesday,” Mr Gunner said.

He said the vaccine rollout would not be rushed.

“We have earned the right to take our time with the rollout and make sure we get this absolutely right,” Mr Gunner said.

“In the coming weeks more detail will be provided on the phases of the rollout, but most will not receive the vaccine until the second half of this year.

“That’s OK because we are in a great place in the Territory. I will continue to provide updates on the rollout as soon as they come to hand.’
