NT has highest rate of fully vaccinated adults in Australia

THE Northern Territory is leading the nation in vaccination rates, new figures have revealed.
Federal government figures published by News Corp over the weekend show the NT leading the pack, with 7.7 per cent of our population now fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
According to the federal health department, 65,350 doses of the vaccine have been administered in the Territory.

The ACT was slightly behind, at 7.4 per cent of adults aged 16 years and over receiving both doses of either the Pfizer or AstraZeneca jab.
Victoria and Queensland were the worst and second worst respectively, at 2.5 and 2.6 per cent.
Australia’s vaccine rollout has in recent months come under fire for lagging behind other wealth nations. The UK has fully vaccinated nearly 45 per cent of its population since December last year.
AMA NT president Dr Robert Parker said the Territory was “progressing reasonably well” in its rollout.
“We could always do better,” Dr Parker said.
The rate of fully protected Territorians is expected to get a boost in coming weeks, after Chief Minister Michael Gunner last week opened up the vaccine to anyone aged 16 and over.
That makes the NT the first jurisdiction in Australia to make virtually all adults eligible for the vaccine
