AFTER an anxious week, couples have raced out to tie the knot in the Territory’s spectacular dry season weather.
Masks were a necessary accessory to any wedding, as mandated by lingering restrictions and just in case true love wasn’t the only thing in the air.
Couple Tommy and Clare Moulds tied the knot at the Mindil Beach Casino Resort after a rollercoaster week on Saturday afternoon, surrounded by friends and family. For the newlyweds, the green light to proceed on Friday was a “weight lifted off our shoulders”.

“The week started off very terribly and our fairytale has come true once again,” Tommy said. “We were devastated when we heard the first lockdown news.
“We thought that was it, we thought that we would have to cancel the wedding or postpone it.”
The announcement that weddings could go ahead on Friday, along with the lifting of the lockdown, led to a scramble.
But the groom said he was just overjoyed the occasion could go ahead.
“Clare and I hugged and had a happy cry,” he said.
“We were happy to do anything just to get a wedding,” he added.
Among the priorities was sourcing some matching masks for the bridesmaids and groomsmen.
Speaking before the ceremony, Clare said she was “thrilled” to be able to marry her soulmate.
“I’m feeling excited, especially after the week that we’ve had,” she said.
Family and friends had already arrived, or were still planning to travel from across the nation for the big day, when restrictions were put in place last Sunday.
Clare said having to wear a mask was a small price to pay for having a perfect wedding surrounded by friends and family.
“When Michael Gunner announced no caps on events, I cried,” Clare said.
“We are so grateful and relieved and I’m just so happy the Territory is a safe place.”
