CHIEF Minister Michael Gunner has ruled out opening up the Territory’s borders and developing travel bubbles with other states.
At a press conference today, when asked if Mr Gunner would consider developing a travel bubble with Queensland, he said he would not consider the opening the Territory’s borders until all of Australia was prepared to open up.
“I think we’re close to just nailing this as a country,” he said.

“We’ll do it once and we’ll do a right we’ll do it for everyone and that’s largely about how we do this on the borders. I want to make the job for police as simple as possible when it comes to how you process moving across the borders, and it’s just much easier to do all at once at the same time.
“And to be honest, I reckon we’re really close to that if you look at how it runs tracking so this is wait, see what happens and then make an informed decision for all, all people.”

There have been repeated calls for the NT and other jurisdictions to develop travel bubbles with other states, most recently from WA Liberal Leader Liza Harvey who urged Premier Mark McGowan to loosen border restrictions with the Territory and South Australia.
